I arrived at work this morning, only to have a phone call from our nanny.
"Miss Merri... um, there is only one diaper."
"One diaper, where?" "
In the house. In whole house. I checked everywhere. There are only diapers for baby girl.""Oh no."
"He might last until 11:00. Maybe so. If no 'bad' diaper happens."
"I do not have carseat. Mr. James has carseat in his car. I cannot do anything."
I had an idea. After some good old-fashioned brainstorming, our nanny wrangled up four diapers from James' new friend down the street. Saved by the baby in the neighborhood.
Probably not going to get a vote for "mother of the year" for this one.
Oh, and to top the day off.... today, James had his first "choking" episode. I hear that all babies will have at least one. He's been in the clear. Tonight it was peaches. He looked at me funny, then turned red, then looked panicked... I realized what was happening... my big, pregnant buns have never moved so fast. Before I knew it, that baby boy was out of the high chair, hanging halfway over my shoulder, and breathing fine. I'm not sure how I knocked it loose... I just did. (And I only slightly managed to knock his head on the dining room light).
Saving child from choking - that must get me a "mother of the year" vote, effectively canceling out the diaper fiasco from earlier, right?
Tomorrow, I head "out of town" for a conference...I put "out of town" in quotes, because really, I am just going to the Ritz in Buckhead for a night. First night away from baby boy, and I am really nervous.
Keeping fingers crossed.

James is obsessed with our computers.... I'm just not sure where the computer obsession comes from... ha ha.
Yesterday was James' 11 month birthday. Seems hard to believe that he's almost a year old. AND, I am holding my breath, but I think we *may* have a child who is beginning to sleep through the night. I hate to even utter the words, for fear of jinxing myself.
Also, James has a little buddy who comes over on the weekday mornings... they are cute together. He is Vietnamese, and when they are together - it sounds like James is speaking his language.
We had a party for my work on Lake Lanier today. The food was great. I love food these days - okay, I love food all days whether pregnant or not, but when the brownies came out, everyone said, "MEREDITH! Brownies!"
I got a funny sunburn for wearing a necklace and a cardigan (yes, the forecast was chilly...turns out - not so much.)
Have I mentioned just how much I love this husband of mine? He is such a wonderful friend and father. James loves him so much - the kid lights up the room when he sees "da da da da da."

Okay. So there has been some disappointment on the part of some folks that I "did away" with my personal website. I did not really think anyone looked at that. Jason said I should give blogging a try. Why not?
The scoop on me, my family and my life: I'm an almost 29 year old gal living in Atlanta by way of Savannah and Athens. I went to UGA (go Dawgs!) for undergrad and law school. I have been married to James/Jason for almost 7 years, and together for 10. That sounds like forever, come to think of it. I have a precious baby boy, James, who is 11 months old today...and a baby girl, Stella, is on her way in about 100 days (give or take 14). I am an attorney at a mid-size ATL firm, and I like what I do. If I had it all to do again - I would have skipped law school.... but that's another blog for another day.
This is me....25 weeks pregnant. Here we go again. I cannot believe that I was pregnant this time last year. It seems absolutely ridiculous when I think about it. But what an enormous blessing... Still, I don't want to be pregnant again for a very long time.
What's Up with Stella? (Week 25):
Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. Her weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but she's beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat. As she does, her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she'll start to look more and more like a newborn. She's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture.
James got a new "firetruck" from his Mia and Papa. He is very serious whilst he puts out fires in our kitchen.
Love to you all, near and far -
